When you supply household names, a single halted production line doesn't just cost a shift's output; it puts shelves at risk and trust on the line.

Van der Most Transport is a family business specialising in road transport for deep-sea containers. From its office in the Port of Rotterdam, the company moves containers across the Benelux and Western Europe, coordinating daily with shipping lines, forwarders, terminals, and shippers.
Planning, dispatch, and customer communication all run via digital platforms, most notably the transport management system (TMS) managed by an external IT supplier. If those systems stop, so does the operation.
"We work with international clients, and they want all kinds of information. Not in an hour, but in real time. Without data and technology, we can’t do anything anymore."
Gertjan van der Most
Founder and Managing Director
Millions of containers pass through Rotterdam every year. Each one represents valuable goods and sensitive data: routes, customs information, and customer details. That makes the surrounding systems attractive to cybercriminals.
Ransomware, data theft, and fraud attempts in logistics have increased sharply. Van der Most saw how quickly an incident elsewhere could bring operations to a standstill and damage trust in the wider ecosystem: "It is crucial that no valuable information be stolen. In the container world, everything has value, especially for the recipient. We also have a responsibility towards them."
Working together with its IT supplier and insurance broker, Van der Most was introduced to Eye Security.
From the first conversations, it was clear that effective protection would depend on three parties working together: Van der Most, its existing IT supplier, and Eye Security.
"It is very pleasant to work with a supplier who speaks our business’ language and also works together with our IT supplier. This triangle, customer, IT supplier, security supplier, is very important to us."

Eye Security implemented a managed detection and response solution tailored to Van der Most’s environment, alongside practical hardening measures and ongoing awareness training.
The elements of the solution:
For a deep-sea container carrier like Van der Most, the biggest concern for a transporter is business continuity. Every container represents value that makes them a prime target for cyber attack. With so much at stake, system security has to be better than ever at detecting anomalies and preventing operations from coming to a halt. "You can close your front door yourself, but an advanced alarm system needs to be installed and monitored by a specialist," says Gertjan van der Most.
For Van der Most, the primary risk was not a single compromised PC. It was a disruption that would prevent trucks from being dispatched, terminals from receiving instructions, or customers from getting real-time information. With Eye Security in place, the company has:
"IT security is difficult for a business of our size to grasp, but I see that Eye Security draws my attention to things like obsolete software, unused email addresses, and open ports. We really have managed to raise awareness and reduce the risk of incidents."

Van der Most knows that 100% security does not exist. What matters is that the company has taken the right steps to protect its data, its customers, and its ability to operate.
The relationship between Van der Most and Eye Security is ongoing. Regular check-ins focus on new risks, improvements, and keeping pace with changes in the IT environment. "We have regular meetings and discuss improvements we can make to increase our resilience." says Gertjan van der Most.
Van der Most Transport can continue to do what it does best: keep containers and customer commitments moving, backed by a digital infrastructure that is monitored, hardened, and ready for the next challenge.

In logistics, continuity is everything. Move Intermodal avoided a near-certain full ransomware rollout because it acted quickly and had the right support in place.
